For those of you who are confused about save the dates, I’m here to help. Here are the top questions I receive from brides about the save the date tradition.
1. When do I send out save the date cards?
Typically, save the dates are sent out at least 3 months prior to your event. How far in advance depends on a couple of factors. If your wedding is in a far away location, you’ll want to notify guests of the venue further in advance so they can make travel arrangements. Up to one year in advance is common.
2. Who do I send save the date cards to?
Make sure you send a save the date card to everyone you would like to invite to your wedding. Especially those guests who will need to make travel arrangements.
3. What should my save the date card say?
You’ll want to include all the pertinent details on your card. Make sure to include the date and location. Now is also a good time to set up a wedding website with accommodations and travel information. You can include that link on your card, as well.
4. Make your save the date FUN!
This isn’t really a question, but I love it when we get to create a unique and clever save the date card. Feel free to include your engagement photo, a fun motif, or even a cute trinket. This truly will be the first impression your guest’s will have of your special day. Better make it count!
